Squarepusher Hello Everything Review

Back once again from the firey depths of Warp Records, Tom Jenkinson is releasing another epic album that all well respected electronic music fanatics cannot survive without. ‘Hello Everything’ is coming out 16th October, available on CD, Vinyl and from Warp Records very own download site.

He toured the UK towards the end of last year but this year he’s being fairly quiet. He’s playing a one off gig at The Electric Gardens in London this month as part of The BBC’s Electric Proms. No doubt it will be packed full of weird, bearded, dreadlock adorned Squarepusher fans wearing Warp shirts and talking about Boards Of Canada whilst smoking weed. Sounds brilliant, no wonder it sold out in 40 minutes!

‘Hello Everything’ is very Squarepusher. Jazzy slap basslines, catchy riffs and mental schizophrenic drum patterns are as present as ever. Is it as good as previous Squarepusher classics like ‘Hard Normal Daddy’, ‘Big Loda’ and ‘Do You Know Squarepusher?’? Only time will tell. I think Warp Records need to mature a bit before you can judge them, like wine. I’ll have a few listens to it and get back to you in a few months. For more info www.warprecords.com.
